MLIT's documents present the following as requests to make baggage screening efficient.
1. What to take out of your bag
- The clear plastic bag of liquids (a re-sealable bag of 1 liter or less with containers of 100ml or less; one bag per passenger)
- Electronic devices such as laptops
- Your jacket (take it off and show it separately)

2. Declaring medicines, baby milk and more
- Medicines, baby milk and baby food, special dietary foods and similar items are exempt from the 100ml rule in the amount needed on board
- Declare them to the inspector. For medicines, you may be asked to show a copy of the prescription, the medicine bag, a doctor's certificate, etc.

3. Items bought after security
- Alcohol etc. bought at duty-free shops after security can be carried on board
- If you transfer to another international flight, they may be confiscated at security at the transfer airport under that country's rules. Check with your airline in advance (see Transferring abroad)

Guidance at security may differ by airport or airline. On the day, follow the instructions of the staff at the security checkpoint.
