Power banks on board: charging, use and where to keep them

Do not charge power banks: charging power banks using the aircraft's power supply is prohibited
Do not use power banks to charge other devices: MLIT asks passengers to charge electronic devices such as phones using the onboard power outlets

Do not put them in the overhead compartment; keep them close to you, for example in the seat pocket
Protect each one to prevent short circuits: put insulating tape on the terminals, put it in a case or storage bag, and do not put it in the same bag as other batteries or metal items
Do not put them in checked baggage (your suitcase); always carry them on board

MLIT's flyer says that violating "do not put them in checked baggage", "do not carry ones over 160Wh", "prevent short circuits", "up to 2" or "do not charge them on board" may be subject to penalties under aviation law
Power banks and similar items that could not be taken on board may also not be transportable by air as cargo via courier services. When sending them, be sure to declare them to the courier and follow their instructions
